THANOS ONCE HAD HIS SPINE RIPPED OUT
After Thanos was banished to the Deadlands, a place inhabited by super-powered zombies, he convinced the living creature that made up the Shield, a wall that separates the three deadliest domains of Battleworld, to rebel against Doom. He decided to take advantage of the civil unrest to fight Doom, but as Thanos gloated, Doom flippantly, almost surgically removed his spine from his body.
THANOS HAS BIONIC AMPLIFICATIONS
The Mad Titan was always interested in power, so he decided to enhance his body by giving himself bionic improvements to his already very strong frame. This gave him the strength to fight off heroes like the Hulk and Odin. He’s even fought Galactus and held his own against the world devourer, decapitating him with a casual wave of his hand.
THANOS IS ROMANTICALLY OBSESSED WITH DEATH
Thanos became obsessed with Death, having felt love for someone for the first time in his life. To make himself worthy of so awesome an entity, Thanos decided to acquire more power. At first he planned simply to seize political power through the conquest of worlds, but later sought to become more powerful through the attainment of items such as the Cosmic Cube and the Infinity Gems.
THANOS SPENDS HIS FORMATIVE YEARS AS A SPACE PIRATE
Many children grow up with dreams of becoming a space pirate, and Thanos of Titan is apparently no different, as that’s the first thing he does upon leaving his home world due to his infatuation with the concept of death. With his supreme intelligence and natural abilities, Thanos quickly becomes a valuable member of his planet-hopping crew, but his lack of respect for his superiors makes him rather unpopular. That is, until Thanos grows tired of taking orders, kills his captain, and takes over the crew. From there on out, he never really stops killing things, using his ever-growing ranks as a personal genocidal army.
THANOS CELEBRATES CHRISTMAS
In order to psychologically condition Gamora (his adopted daughter) to be more than just a soulless killing machine, Thanos provided her with as normal a childhood as he could muster. He reasoned that she would function better if she were to have a childhood, therefore she would not be simply psychotic but capable of reason.
In doing so, he chose to assign her a birthday and each year celebrated a modern Earth style Christmas, complete with gift-giving, a Christmas tree, and the illusion of Santa.
HE ONCE OWNED A “THANOS-COPTER” AND WAS ARRESTED BY REGULAR COPS.
Thanos is the ultimate baddie of the Marvel Universe, so it may surprise you to know that he was once arrested by regular cops. Of course, the boys in blue had a little help from Hellcat and Spider-Man, who were attempting to prevent Thanos from stealing the Cosmic Cube. Hellcat was able to kick the cube from Thanos’ hands before police arrived on scene and put the purple alien in handcuffs. This bizarre comic also featured Thanos flying a helicopter and a young boy using the cube to conjure up an ice cream.
THANOS IS BORN WITH DEVIANT SYNDROME.
Thanos was one of the last sons of A’Lars (also known as Mentor), progenitor of the second colony of Eternals on Titan (a moon orbiting the planet Saturn). Born with a massive, deformed body and hide-like skin, it was clear from birth that he had Deviant Syndrome, a rare condition where an Eternal more closely resembles their enemies The Deviants.
THANOS IS AN ETERNAL
Like all Eternals, Thanos is essentially immortal. He possesses the natural ability to synthesize cosmic power for whatever use he sees fit. He also possesses limitless strength, durability, and intelligence. Through bionic implantation and meditation, Thanos augmented his natural Eternal Powers and surpassed all the other Eternals on Titan.
